IT support for Omaha dental offices
A dental office can lose a morning quickly when an operatory computer cannot see a sensor, the schedule is slow, or the front desk is stuck waiting on a software vendor. Cambium Data is a local Omaha IT company. We keep the computers, network, backups and phones your practice depends on working, so your staff can stay focused on patients.

When the software vendor blames the computer
An operatory goes down. The software vendor says it’s the computer or the network. Whoever handles your IT says it’s the software. The chair sits empty while the front desk relays messages.
We do not replace your practice management or imaging vendor. We handle the computers, network and other technology underneath those systems, and work with the vendor when the problem crosses between their software and your hardware.
Keep imaging and practice software running
Dental software depends on the hardware underneath it. Imaging files are large, sensors and intraoral cameras depend on drivers, and the pano or CBCT often has its own dedicated computer that nobody wants to touch. The problems we see most often include:
- A server that’s running out of space, out of warranty, or both.
- A Windows update that breaks a sensor or camera driver right before the first patient.
- An imaging bridge between the practice software and the imaging software that only works on certain machines.
- A slow network between the front desk, the operatories and the server.
We monitor the server and workstations, schedule updates after hours, and are careful with updates on imaging machines, checking for known problems with your sensor and imaging software before they go out. We keep notes on how each operatory is set up, and we coordinate with your software and imaging vendors on upgrades, server replacements and moves to the cloud.
Workstations and network that stay ready for the day
A hardware lifecycle report for every operatory, front desk, office and lab computer, showing which machines are aging, out of warranty or on a Windows version that no longer gets security updates.
Business-grade firewall, switches and Wi-Fi, including Cisco and Meraki equipment, which we sell and support.
Patient guest Wi-Fi kept separate from the network your charts and X-rays travel on.
A backup internet line through carrier partners like Great Plains Communications, so check-in, claims and cloud software keep working if the main line goes down.
Adding operatories, remodeling or moving? We plan and deliver cabling projects and get the network and workstations ready before your first patient.
Backups that have been tested before you need them
Your charts and images are the practice. A failed server, ransomware or one wrong click can put years of X-rays at risk.
Backups of the server and imaging data, with a local copy for fast restores and a copy kept off-site.
Backups of Microsoft 365 email and files, and checks that backups finished.
We test restores so you know what can be recovered and how the recovery process works before a server failure forces you to find out.
Phones built around the dental front desk
The front desk is answering phones, checking patients in and verifying insurance at the same time. We set up cloud-based phone systems with ring groups for the front desk, a separate line for billing questions, and lunch-hour and after-hours rules. You keep your numbers (we handle the number porting), and the phone apps let the office manager or doctor take calls from a cell phone.
Security controls for patient information
For medical and dental offices, we help put the technical safeguards HIPAA calls for in place and keep them maintained, alongside your compliance advisor.
- Multi-factor authentication on email and remote access.
- Individual logins instead of one shared front-desk account.
- Email filtering to catch phishing and fake invoice messages.
- Endpoint protection on every computer, and encrypted laptops.
- Removing access when staff leave, including remote access to the practice software.
To see what an attacker could reach on your network, we offer automated penetration testing, quoted separately. If your cyber insurance renewal is coming up, Cyber Insurance Readiness helps you answer the technical questions on the application and put missing controls in place.
AI employees that take busywork off the front desk
AI employees take repetitive office work off your team: drafting review responses and requests, vendor and supply follow-ups, staff schedule reminders and sorting the office inbox. Your front desk gets more done, and the day runs more smoothly. Your people approve anything that goes out.
They start with non-patient office work, and patient information stays out unless a signed agreement with the AI provider covers it and we both agree in writing. We also write a plain-language AI use policy for your office and check your Microsoft 365 permissions before Microsoft Copilot goes in.
Full managed or co-managed
If you do not have an IT person in the office, fully managed IT gives you one place to handle the technology underneath your practice software. Groups with their own IT team can use co-managed IT instead. Our co-managed plan includes 0.25 support hours per user per month, with additional time billed in 15-minute increments. There is a minimum billing of 10 users. See our managed IT pricing.
Our goal is a first response within 30 minutes during business hours.

We look at your setup and what you pay today, and show you what isn’t protected and what we’d fix first, in plain English. It’s free, there’s no obligation, and you keep the written summary. For a dental office, we also note which operatory and imaging computers are aging or out of support.

FAQs
Do you support Open Dental, Dentrix or Eaglesoft?
We support the computers, server, network and backups they run on. The vendor supports the application itself. When a problem sits between the two, we work it out with the vendor directly so your staff don’t have to.
How do you handle patient data security?
For medical and dental offices, we help put the technical safeguards HIPAA calls for in place and keep them maintained, alongside your compliance advisor. Your compliance advisor owns the policies and paperwork. We put the technical controls in place, such as multi-factor authentication, individual logins, encryption, endpoint protection and backups, keep them maintained, and tell you in plain English what’s in place.
Can you help when we add operatories or move?
Yes. We plan and deliver cabling projects, plan the network, set up the workstations, and work with your imaging and equipment vendors on timing, so the new rooms are ready when the first patient sits down.
What if the server goes down in the middle of the day?
Our monitoring alerts us, and our goal is a first response within 30 minutes during business hours. If hardware needs hands, we come on-site. Tested backups mean we know how to get the schedule and images back, and roughly how long it will take.
Do we have to replace all our computers?
No. The free technology and AI review and our hardware lifecycle report show which machines are out of warranty or on a Windows version that no longer gets security updates. We help you replace them on a schedule you can budget for, starting with the ones that put the practice at risk.
What is the free technology and AI review?
We look at your setup and what you pay today. After your call is set up, we ask for your most recent internet, phone, Microsoft 365 and IT bills. We come back with what isn’t protected and what we’d fix first, in plain English. It’s free, there’s no obligation, and you keep the written summary.
